Awesome From Horsham
A brief selection of popular music from ‘Orsham, Sussex in the olden days. Mainly from 1985 to 1990 but stretching a few years either side plus a couple from the end of the century. This is largely free of me bar the odd track where I did the recording or was the straight man.
If we’re going to get picky about it there is a smattering of Crawley, Southwater & Billingshurst involved. But they all pretty much drank at The Bear in Horsham.
(Though it is of course square, because Laurie’s Favourite Shirt aren’t there).

Relatively Recent Japanese Music With An Indie Inclination
It may be the musical equivalent of returning to motorcycling in your 40s but a few years ago I chanced upon the Japanese band Moscow Club and through them a music scene that was reminiscent of Britain in the mid 1980s and since have kept a watching brief on developments therein.
So comes the hour to give the world the benefit of my time well spent with a fairly arbitrary selection of the great and the good with a particularly indie bent. I’ve tried for a selection that works as a whole rather than forcing each band’s best song into the mix.
- Bikini Kill by Moscow Club
- Her Secret by The Ships
- Nite Life Lounge by Post Modern Team
- Kinda Sad by Fandaze
- Arpeggio by Humming Parlour

Radio Free Brighton
…From Hove presumably.
Jim on Radio Free Brighton talking about music that has been and is important to him on the Duke’s Special show on 10th May 2014.
Half An Hour With Locas In Love
N.B. Due to Mixcloud limiting the number of tracks from a single artist this might not play unless you’re a paying member of the site.
A fairly arbitrary collection from Köln based Locas In Love who have been pottering away in one form or another since the early years of the century.
According to their website translated by Google to English via Japanese: ‘often, we very much it.. usually good it is prohibited decency to write more’, which I can only agree with wholeheartedly. locasinlove.com. The website is non-https and a bit out of date so here’s their Bandcamp page as an alternative.

2019
On a whim. Songs from the olden days, or 2019 as it was known. Doesn’t include the ones I’ve forgotten.
Edited highlights. Some good joins. And one dreadful one that sneaked past quality control.
A good attempt by Language to miss out by releasing on 31st December and a special mention for Stefanie Schrank’s mastering engineer who didn’t just reach for the look ahead limiter.

Loud Hailers #1 Thousand Lives Of Ryuichi Sakamoto
The first collection of Themed Music as part of a series of compilations for Beachy Head Radio.
It streamed on 11th May and should the embed fail can be found here.
All the music in this compilation was written by Ryuichi Sakamoto, alone or in collaboration. He was often also the Producer, Arranger, Performer or any combination of those roles. A handy utility player.
I wouldn’t qualify anywhere near the front of a grid of Sakomotorists and have but un peu de Japanese so there may well be errors below. I have though gone to the original releases for confirmation as far as possible.
*C* Composer
*P* Producer
*A* Arranger
*M* Performer
*G* Programmer
*X* Mixer
The prefix *c-* indicates a shared credit, eg. *c-P* = Co-Producer
