The title of this post is a perhaps a little harsh as these final semi-live recordings of The Gits are the best available in some cases.
Blurb from Bandcamp:
With Ben about to jump ship and the end of the band in sight we decided to record our tunes live in the studio. Not a music studio of course but the drama annex at Collyer’s College Horsham.
We played along to drum machine and second guitar parts pre-recorded to DAT onto our usual four track cassette machine. A little vocal reverb was added in the mix but nothing was replaced or overdubbed.
Twenty nine songs in one session was a gnats optimistic and we flag in places but it may be of interest as some of these songs were markedly different in their live versions and a few had benefited from a couple of years of gigging.
Though the last album to be reissued it actually contains the earliest songs as originally recorded in 1986 and 1987 plus a number re-recorded for the cassette version of ‘Einmal Ist Keinmal’ in 1993.
In an unexpected turn of events here’s a new song from VTOR.
A new EP of guitar instrumentals from Mr Slater’s Parrot – the brand you can trust.*

Oops! I forgot. Had spent all of an hour on doing the video in advance too.
And the inevitable video. Tracing the locations of the sound effects recordings used in the tune.
Now available on the Camp Of Bands:
It includes the original graveyard drunks version which couldn’t be used on the radio as they inconsiderately didn’t bear in mind OFCOM language guidelines during their slanging match.
And tacked on the end is the unrepresentative last part of the Opus for those who can’t spare the eighteen minutes required to listen to the whole thing. Also being stripped of sound effects it does give the ear a clearer view.
A release of all things. Not quite what I intended to get going again but it came to mind at the end of last year and hear it is, a critique of and plea to the bands that forsake Bandcamp without good reason.
The main track, Bandcamp (Come Back), turned out a bit long as the lyrics on the faster bit were meant to run together but proved confusing like that so I split them into two sections. Given the length I’ve also done the ‘radio edit’, Bandcamp (Slight Return), which omits part two.
The Streaming Suite Consists of:
and is not at all a collection of oddments tenuously tacked together.
After a bit of a battle against with my ageing music computer I’ve managed to knock out an EP. It features a a track that sadly looks as though it’ll be topical for some time to come.
Also contains reheated filler from the era when I was tidier with genres. I had a sore throat when I did the words but sadly it didn’t improve my voice at all.
