I bought a CD of Music For Viola & Orchestra (probably prompted by listening to too much Anoice) which includes a version of this one by Herbert Howells from 1917- Elegy for Viola, String Quartet and String Orchestra.
Viola doesn’t seem to get many cheery tunes.
Quite a change of direction for the Brazilian metallers…
Edgar Varèse has never been hugely popular other than with every soundtrack composer ever.
Of orchestral pieces based on the work of Brazilian institutes studying the venom of poisonous animals to create antidotes this is amongst my favourites.
Literally. It’s the only one I know.
