A couple of live Christine tracks I like from the olden days, Follow Me and a cover of Sister Ray.
Joy Division added an extra chord to their take on Sister Ray and we added yet another so our version was obviously superior to the Velvet Underground original.
This was probably from a charity gig at Collyers College in Horsham at the end of March 1986, at least the year is right. The keyboards are a bit quiet as they were so loud on stage there wasn’t much of them going through the mixing desk from which the recording was largely taken.
Another in the ‘what can I do to avoid real work but feel I’ve achieved something’ series.
A Christine number recorded after the demise of the band by Fred and Richard plus Jim from the Jackalsons and accidentally yours truly after failure of a hired four track recorder resulted in time pressure to get it done with the borrowed replacement.
I cut Carnival Of Souls about to go with it.
Still living in the past here’s an early collaboration between the duo responsible for VTOR, though Richard is on bass rather than singing for Christine. Jim, later of the Gits, also guests as the second drummer on this track based on Adrian Mitchell‘s To Whom It May Concern. (Not that anyone told me that at the time).
Fred who provides vocals here sang the very last Gits song at the very last Gits gig.
The video this time is made up from Rebus Film No.1 by Paul Leni from 1925.
I stuck a video camera outside the back door for five minutes last night to catch the howling wind and the clouds flying past so ended up doing this.
More Christine here.
