At some point I’m going to have to actually record something properly. But not at this point.
In what’s becoming a habit today’s buggering about with the new effects board is back to the seventies with longs delays and ebow.
I’m beginning to see how these genres come about.
Twenty For Hours Later
I realised where I was going wrong yesterday. Not quite enough screens and coloured lights.
For those strumming along at home the chords are D, C, G, Em – but not necessarily in that order.
But I appear to have been hard at work on an ambient guitar piece.
Too much direct sound picked up as it was recorded with just my dictaphone aimed at computer speakers but I quite like it anyway. The Fishman Midi pickup isn’t being used, it’s all delays and reverb from the Empress Echo System. The toneful sounds are from resting a finger of the hand out of shot just above the twelfth fret then hitting the strings where the various harmonics can be found with the other. The initial ‘explosion’ is with the strings damped.
I really should dust beneath the strings before videoing.
After a bit of a battle against with my ageing music computer I’ve managed to knock out an EP. It features a a track that sadly looks as though it’ll be topical for some time to come.
Also contains reheated filler from the era when I was tidier with genres. I had a sore throat when I did the words but sadly it didn’t improve my voice at all.
I shall be reporting the manufacturers under the Trades Descriptions Act as it does in fact comes without a stylus.
I don’t know yet if I’ve succeeded in reducing electrical interference but it certainly looks the part.
