I’ve noticed that The Gits have garnered a few Scrobbles at last.fm.
And the last time I looked royalties were up to £0.07 so soon we’ll be rolling in it.
Mainly the usual Gits clips put together in a slightly different order to accompany an interview at Cloudberry Cake Proselytism.
The music though is largely from their recordings rather than live and I happen to have found another radio interview on a cassette recently so some of that’s added in there as well.
It includes clips from Public Domain films found in archive.org’s ephemeral films collection.

Tunes that have failed to progress beyond the early rounds of voting for the forthcoming compilation from ‘Orsham’s The Gits (UK) to be released by Firestation Records of Berlin. Plus a few oddities. Actually rather more than a few.

And if you wondered what the Katakana is about it’s an attempt to distinguish us from the better known American Gits of the same era and to avoid having to come up with a logo. That seemed to naturally lead to more Japanese for consistency of style.
Back in the mists time, or July 2008 I think it was, the good burghers at Firestation Records of Germany kindly asked us to appear on one of their volumes of indie music of the eighties for which we stuck together a couple of different recordings of J.K. Rant to create a previously unheard version.
After some years in the making this volume has ultimately been included with the Firestation 15th Anniversary box set ‘Still Mad At Me?‘ with the title lost in translation as ‘JK Rent’.

The answer was Gods.
For one of the occasions the CD was ‘coming soon’ I knocked out a promotional short with commentary idea pinched from the video for the song Zusammen Verschwinden by a band I was listening to a lot at the time Karpatenhund. They continue until this very day as their alter egos Locas In Love.

I didn’t feel this went anywhere in the end so haven’t entered it but there are a few bits I like. It’s based on Bright Sunny South in the Smithsonian Folkways playlist with the addition of various nature sounds that they uploaded. Mostly I’ve played around with effects and using a drum replacer VST to create the midi to trigger rhythmic parts. The only thing added manually is diddily dum dum dum the big bass drum.
