I first came across Tom Waits when a short lived BBC 2 show broadcast this video 1 of In The Neighbourhood in 1983 but I can’t for the life of me remember the name of the program.
Another week they showed this with one of the week’s guests, Suzi Quatro, describing them as America’s Status Quo.
And the last thing I remember about it was John Peel on one time talking about authenticity in relation to Wham and saying that people told him to listen to BB King for the real thing when Eric Clapton become well known but that he preferred Clapton.
Later That Same Evening
I still haven’t found what I’m looking for but did come across The Glove – from 1983.
Even Later That Same Evening
Twas ‘Eight Days A Week’. Can’t find the episodes I mentioned but here’s George Michael, Morrissey & Tony Blackburn on it in 1984.
So endeth tonight’s sermon.
